Reduction of lattice thermal conductivity from nanostructuring has recently been regarded as a promising way to improved thermoelectric figures of merit zT. If the nanostructure has low dimensional feature and carriers are confined in it, it could also alter the density of states of carriers leading to an enhanced power factor. Such coupling of multiple effects from nanostructuring is expected to result in large enhancement of thermoelectric performance. In this work, we introduce low dimensional nanostructure of conductive phase in a bulk insulating material utilizing a solid-to-solid phase transformation. The thermoelectric properties will also be discussed.
