||Marker Analysis to Determine Dominant Diffusing Species in Ni3Sn4

In this study, a noble marker analysis to determine the dominant diffusing species in intermetallic compounds (IMCs) is reported. An indentation maker is developed to measure the marker motion in submicron level (1-10μm). This technique was applied to Ni3Sn4 intermetallic compound growth and the results showed that the marker on the IMC moved from the Ni/IMC interface towards the Sn/IMC interface under annealing at 210oC, suggesting that Sn is the dominant diffusing species.
