||The Dissolution Behavior of MgO into Molten High Titanium Slag

The Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) is usually used as a key equipment in titanium slag producing, or upgrade slag，but the serious erosion of the MgO-C refractory was found in industry process in Panzhihua Iron & Steel（Group）Co. Ltd.. So it is necessary to research the dissolution behavior and reaction mechanism of MgO into the high titanium slag. In this paper, the dissolution of MgO into the TiO2-Ti2O3-FeO-MgO-CaO-SiO2-Al2O3 slag has been investigated by the rotating cylinder method. The results indicated that the dissolution rate increased with the increasing of contacting time, temperature, rotating speed and reduction degree of Ti, but decreased with increasing of MgO content in the initial slag. The main dissolution driving force is the concentration potential difference of MgO between solid and liquid phase. The effects of viscosity and diffusivity of Mg2+ on the dissolution process are also discussed.
