Abstract Scope Additive manufacturing is maturing from a prototyping technology to a manufacturing process. While showing incredible potential for disrupting tradition design and build approaches, it is still too immature for producing certified parts. The US Army Research Laboratory is leading research into new materials, processes, and advanced modeling tools to increase the performance and capability of next generation AM capabilities. New materials technologies for metal, polymer, hybrid (multi-material/multi-functional) structures, and manufacturing using materials from indigenous sources will be presented.
