Abstract Scope The combustion systems of two 64 tonne reverberatory furnaces were replaced for LTOF (Low-temperature Oxyfuel) technology during 2016. Later, EMS (Electro Magnetic Stirring) was installed in one of the two furnaces. The main objective was to increase the cold metal melting capacity of the primary metal cast house. The paper will discuss experiences gained from one year of successful operation with focus on productivity and energy. The technical installations will be described.
