| Abstract Scope |
The effects of extrusion temperature and ram speed on the hot extrusion of semi-solid AM100A alloy fabricated by cooling plate were experimentally investigated. And the mechanical properties of extruded AM100A alloy products were also presented. In order to confirm hot extrudability of this alloy, we observed the surface and microstructure of its extrudate during hot extrusion. The mechanical properties of the hot extrudates were evaluated by tensile tests performed at an initial strain rate of 1.0 x 10-3s-1. The surface of the fabricated extrudates with extrusion container temperature of 380°C under the extrusion ratio of 25:1 and ram speed of 2.4mm/sec was significantly sound. And, it was also shown that, the grain size of the extrudates was reduced with decreasing of extrusion temperature. The average grain size of its hot extrudate was found approximately 15㎛. |
