||OO-17: Effect of Temperature on the Mechanical Behaviour of NiTi Shape Memory Sheets

In this research the shape memory effect of commercial NiTi sheets has been investigated. SMA elements have been characterized by calorimetric analysis in order to determine the real transformation temperatures. Tensile tests (load-unload cycles) have been performed at various constant temperatures (up to 100 °C). Stress-strain curves have been analyzed and discussed in order to quantify the shape-recovery which has been found higher at increasing testing temperature. A study on the energy dissipation on each cycle has been carried out too and the energy absorption on the whole load-unload cycle has been found higher as the temperature increases.
