| Abstract Scope |
Poly (vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) is an important ferroelectric polymer with complicated phase behaviors and the polar functional group, -C-F-. In this paper, carbon nanofiber (CNFs) filled PVDF thin films were prepared via a solution casting method. The effects of CNFs on the crystallization of PVDF and the AC conductivity of CNF/PVDF nanocomposites were investigated. The results revealed that the introduction of CNFs not only affected the conductivity directly, but also caused indirect effects to the conductivity through influencing the size of crystal grains, the degree of crystallinity and the crystal phase transformation of PVDF. In particular, a phase transformation from α-phase to β-phase in PVDF was found to affect conductivity of the nanocomposites due to the increment of CNF concentration in the nanocomposites. |
