||G-30: The Shape of the Liquid Metastable Miscibility Gap in Undercooled Molten Pd-Ni-P Alloys

Earlier, Zhou et al.  were able to determine the complete metastable liquid miscibility gap (MLMG) in undercooled molten Pd-Ni-P. It is basically a right angle prism. Lately, a first-order order liquid-liquid phase transition (LLT)  was observed in undercooled molten Pd-Ni-P alloys with compositions just outside the MLMG. In addition, a thermodynamic model was constructed to explain the formation mechanism of the MLMG and the origin of the first-order LLT. Here experiments based on the thermodynamic model were arranged to understand the shape of the MLMG.
