Abstract Scope A hierarchy of fundamental genomic databases spanning solution thermodynamics, molar volumes, atomic mobilities and solute hardening has been vital to the development of the modern practice of computational materials design over the past 6 decades. The QuesTek CMD design interface for graphical parametric design integrates models structured to exploit these CALPHAD-based databases for accelerated optimization of composition and process specifications with allowable tolerances for high performance alloys within manufacturing constraints. Integration of CMD with multidisciplinary design optimization tools under the AIM qualification methodology employs a structured hybrid modeling approach for the quantification and management of model uncertainty throughout accelerated materials and process development. In support of the national Materials Genome Initiative, the NIST-funded Chicago-regional CHiMaD Center for Hierarchical Materials Design expands the scope across inorganic and organic systems for structural and electronic applications, integrating new methods in data informatics and high-throughput theory and experiment.
