||Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of YxCoCrFeNi High Entropy Alloys

High-entropy alloys (HEAs) have attracted much attention for their promising mechanical properties. A new alloy system with multiprincipal elements was designed in this research. The YxCoCrFeNi HEAs were prepared by vacuum arc melting and casting method. The structures were investigated by X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. The research results show that the CoCrFeNi HEA was single-phase face-centered-cubic solid solution, whereas the YxCoCrFeNi alloys were multi-phases. With increasing Y content, the grain size of the alloys decreases and the hardness value increases. Typical cast dendrite and interdendrite structures were observed in the YxCoCrFeNi HEAs.
