The tundish in the current study was for a five-strand billet continuous caster. The effect of closing different outlets on the fluid flow, temperature and inclusion removal was investigated. The top surface level fluctuations at the inlet zone isolated by the tall turbulence inhibitor weir was very severe and caused slag entrainment. The fraction of inclusions entering the outlet far away from the inlet was more higher than entering other outlets. The temperature differcence between inlet and outlet of tundish was increased by closing outlets for the current tundish.
