||NN-14: Thermodynamic Assessment of the PbO-V2O5 System

The PbO-V2O5 system has been thermodynamically assessed based on the available phase diagram and thermodynamic data using the CALPHAD method. The liquid phase is described by the modified quasichemical model with the pair approximation, which takes short-range ordering in liquid solution into account. Because of the characteristics of V2O5 is similar with P2O5, we assumed the maximum short-range ordering in the liquid solution occurs at the Pb3(VO4)2 composition and the VO43- is considered as the basic building unit of V2O5. All intermetallic phases are treated as stoichiometric compounds. A set of self-consistent model parameters is obtained and the experimental data are reproduced well. The present study can be used as a basis for developing a thermodynamic database of extracting vanadium from vanadium-bearing raw materials.
