||A Porous TiAl Intermetallic Compound with Double Pore Structures Fabricated by Powder Metallurgy Using Carbamide as a Space Holder

Based on the combined action of pore forming mechanism, Kirkendall effect and the replication of space holders, a porous TiAl intermetallic compound with higher porosity (>70%) has been fabricated successfully. The porous TiAl consists of double pore structures, one is millimeter pore size distributed in matrix and another is micrometer pore size embedded in pore walls and struts. Moreover, the porosity of the porous TiAl intermetalic compound with a complete open-cell structure and homogeneous distribution can reach to higher (>70%) than that of porous TiAl sintered only through Kirkendall effect.
