Abstract Scope Developing diversity within engineering can refer to many pathways, such as the inclusion of underrepresented minorities in the field. However, diversity through an individual’s experiences can involve other aspects, such as breadth of experience, types of industries, or formal education and training. Engineers and scientists of all levels and backgrounds can benefit from coaching, mentoring, and sponsorship to grow and develop. These types of partnerships allow individuals to mutually learn from one another, taking advantage of diverse experiences to build skills, understand workplace issues, and gain new insights. Coaches, mentors, and sponsors can be important advocates and support networks in the corporate environment, particularly for minority groups. This presentation will discuss the differences in these three relationships and how they play a role within both promoting diversity and career development.
