||Engineering High Strength Nanostructured Water Reactive Alloys for Multi Stage Stimulation

Multi Stage Stimulation (MSS) is primarily used for harnessing “Unconventional” reservoirs. Conventional technology encompasses temporarily isolation of sections of a well to perform sequential stimulations or hydraulic fracturing later to be removed by milling via coil tubing operations. Innovations to revolutionize this market are new developments of a class of water reactive or degradable alloy tuned to dissolve in fracturing and produced fluids. Applications of novel processing routes to engineer high strength nanostructured degradable alloys with tailor-able well fluid reactivity have opened a variety of applications in oilfield services. Valves currently designed by our Infinity product line, has the ability to hold 10,000 psi (69 MPa) differential pressure during stimulation. These are targeted to replace conventional Frac-plugs, reduce intervention time and improve returns / revenue. Our presentation will introduce MSS as a topic for general interest and discuss salient technological developments in innovative nano-materials and mechanical design for temporary isolation.
