||SPG-4: On the Effect of Mo on Austenite-ferrite Transformation Kinetics

A series of isothermal experiments in Fe-0.2C-1.5Mn-1.5Si-0.2Mo/0.5Mo/1.5Mo (w.t. %) alloys are performed at temperatures between 600℃ and 725℃to investigate the effect of Mo on the kinetics of austenite to ferrite transformation. It is found that Mo addition affects the austenite to ferrite transformation kinetics significantly. However, the two classical models, Local equilibrium model and Paraequilirium model both predict that Mo has almost no effect on the kinetics of austenite-ferrite transformation. The deviation between experiments and predictions are discussed, and it is deduced that the retarding effect of Mo on transformation kinetics could possibly be caused segregation of Mo at the austenite/ferrite interface.
