In the paper, results of wear tests of carbide-free bainitic steel of nanocrystalline structure are presented. In the recent years the progress in development of high strength steels allow to achieve the strength above 2,0 GPa and good toughness. The excellent combination of strength and toughness in the bainitic steel structure resulted from suitable heat treatment and this process can be used to control the mechanical properties. The main factor which affect the mechanical properties and can be controlled by chemical composition and heat treatment process is the amount of retained austenite and it can be used for development of the material which will be wear resistant. In the paper the analysis of the wear resistance dependency on the mechanical properties are presented. The wear resistance were measured by means of pin-on-disk tests and compared to the martensitic steel.
