Presentation Title Hot Blast Stoves: Refractory Tradition and Innovative Refractory Solutions
Author(s) Floris van Laar, Yuechu Ma, Laura Irwin
On-Site Speaker (Planned) Floris van Laar
Abstract Scope This paper will discuss traditional and new refractory materials for Hot Blast Stoves and alternate methods and materials in which they can be used. Additional discussion will focus on the significance of improving the refractory configuration, the installation methods, and the turn-around time for the repairs, all of which are vital new tools in a changing industry. An alternative design with monolithic materials was successfully implemented in 2008 to overcome these issues including the casting of a complete monolithic dome. Several innovative construction methods, materials and new technology which have been implemented will be reviewed as well.
Proceedings Inclusion? Definite: A CD-only volume
