Abstract Scope A new process of “direction reduction-hydrometallurgy extraction”is developed to treat a rare earth-niobium-iron associated rough concentrate with 1.59% REO, 1.36% Nb2O5 and 32.92% TFe. The iron powder with 92.19% TFe and rare earth oxide with 92.33% REO and niobium concentrate with 30.51% Nb2O5 can be obtained finally, and the iron recovery is 92.8%, the rare earth recovery is 76.07% and the niobic recovery is 72.28%.
