||Development and Application of Phase-based Databases via CALPHAD Method in HEA Discovery

The concept of HEA opens a vast compositional space for exploring alloys with promising properties. Since a successful structural material must possess a balance of over a dozen different properties, it is extremely challenging to discover the candidate alloys using traditional experimental approach. In this work, we will present phase-based databases developed for HEAs using the CALPHAD approach, which includes not only thermochemical but also thermophysical information for various properties. We will also discuss how to efficiently map different properties within the entire composition space of a system by coupling these databases with the CALPHAD simulation tool. The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate high-throughput design of high-performance HEAs using CALPHAD method.
