Presentation Title YP-2: The Effects of Quartz Amount on the Physical and Microstructural Properties of Tile Bodies

Abstract Scope Tile is very popular traditional ceramic. It includes clay , feldspar and quartz. One of the most important properties of tile is used quartz amount. In this study three different tile compositions including clay, feldspar and various quartz amount were prepared. They were mixed for 24 hours. Then, they were formed by slip casting with 40% solid content. They were, sintered at different sintering temperatures between 800-950 ̊C. Physical properties were determined by measuring density, shrinkage and water absorption. Structural characterization was carried out with X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) studies. Lastly, tile body was formed with composition having optimum properties.
